    Letter to Dick Gammick

    On February 19, 2010 you announced your candidacy for Washoe County District Attorney. Mr. Gammick you have served as District Attorney for Washoe County for 15 years. A former police officer, you have run unopposed in the last three elections and you now seek a 5th term in office. In your announcement you said that you wanted to continue your fight against lawlessness at the “highest standard the community has come to expect.”

    Perchloroethylene (PCE) in the river and groundwater

    The residents of the Truckee Meadows currently are paying a tax to pay for the clean-up of the PCE contamination in our water supply. PCE is a dry-cleaning chemical that is highly carcinogenic.

What Dick Gammick nominally costs the Washoe County citizens

Mr. Gammick has an annual salary of $156,068. In addition to his salary, he also receives longevity pay in the amount of $17,000 per year. He is also given a county vehicle that costs the taxpayers approximately $9,000 per year. With the addition of his pension and insurance benefits, the total value of Mr. Gammick’s annual pay approaches $200,000.

If elected, I would not accept a county vehicle and I certainly wouldn’t want a red light in it so I could stop people for traffic violations.
